Choosing a Home Treadmill

December 16, 2009 by TreadmillsCenter

Home treadmills are extremely popular types of exercise equipment as they are easy to use and give you a great workout. Electric treadmills are the most widely used but also available are human powered treadmills. You can find a cheaper treadmill for approximately $500 although, to make sure the treadmill will last for a reasonable time, it would be advisable for you to purchase a more expensive treadmill.

One of the biggest advantages of a treadmill at home, of course, is that you don’t need to leave your home for a gym. You will really be grateful for this during the winter in the dark, cold evenings. It will be much more comfortable to do your exercising in the warmth of your own home! Another benefit is that you will be able to read, listen to music or watch TV while you exercise so you won’t get bored.

Choosing a Home Treadmill

Although, as as mentioned above, you can find treadmills for under $30  they will be poor quality and won’t have some of the features of the more expensive models. You also need to think about the features available, including the program range as a more extensive choice will allow for more variety in your workout workout and help to avoid boredom. A built in heart rate monitor is useful to allow you to monitor the level of cardiovascular exercise. While you may be tempted to select a cheaper model this could be a false economy in the long run as it will either not last or be so limiting that you easily get bored with the exercise routine. A further thing to think about is the number of people who will use the treadmill and how much they weight. If your treadmill will be used by two or more joggers than consider spending around 00 and for two serious runners around 00.

Consider also the weight limit of the home treadmill you are thinking of buying. Other treadmill manufacturers overstate their weight limits hence, especially if you are slightly overweight, choose a treadmill that has a maximum weight limit than your actual weight. Remember that, even if you think you will only be walking on the treadmill, once you become fitter you might start to workout a good deal more vigorously. If you purchased a cheap home treadmill you may have to buy an additional one that is better for your improved fitness level! It would be much better to buy a more expensive treadmill in the first place.

Conclusion

Selecting a home treadmill may be more difficult than simply visiting the mall and choosing the first one you see. Consider in what way you will be using it and the features you need. Make certain that you select one that will not fall apart in a few months and can stand up to the different types of workouts you’ll be doing.
