Low glycemic foods are things you eat that do not raise your blood sugar. They can be healthy for you, and can be digested over time to help you maintain a proper balance in diet so you are not getting too much sugars, too fast.

Foods are considered low when the value on them in the glycemic index is 55 or below. This value is based on how the affect the blood sugar through digestion as well as how quickly they raise the sugars higher. Generally, they slowly do this because they are slowly added to the system.

There are foods that are on the low scale, but are high in empty calories, and if you are watching your weight, they should be eaten sparingly. If you are a diabetic, then you need to exercise caution, since many of them contain sugars that can have a negative impact on your disease. They include things like Peanut M&Ms, Snickers and chocolate bars, low fat ice cream, pound cake and potato chips, in increasing order.

Natural Anxiety Relief: Take Action To Cure

Anxiety is a call to action. Those unpleasant feelings are saying, “Change things around here. I don’t like it.” To cure that anxiety you have to take charge of your life. You might not be able to control the outcome, but you can make a decision to take charge of every aspect of that is within your power.

A family was dependent on the husband’s income to pay the mortgage. One day he made a bad mistake at work. Suddenly it became obvious to both husband and wife that, even if he kept his job after the disciplinary proceedings, that he was only one bad mistake away from losing it. Given that his job was very repetitive and required full attention mistakes were not unknown. Both of them became very anxious. The mistake had been made and he couldn’t undo the consequences.

Even though the husband kept his job his wife stayed anxious for months. It then came to her that she had to make some changes. For health reasons it was very difficult for her to take employment. She sat down with a friend and together they brainstormed everything that was possible to both cut down expenses and possible ways to make money. They wrote down lots and lots of ideas to bring in money, none of which seemed either do-able or desirable to her.

Finally, after focusing on her desire to have a financial safety net (rather than what she didn’t want) the couple decided to take in a boarder to cover part of the mortgage. This was a huge decision as it meant a big difference in how the house was organized. They lost their privacy and life was very different.

The first boarder was not a success. The second was a business man who wanted everything done for him (meals, washing and ironing) but he wanted his own privacy, was often away on trips and paid well. The couple covered the costs of an extra person out of the normal housekeeping and put all the money into an emergency fund in an offset account against the mortgage. There it reduced the amount of mortgage interest they had to pay and was available should disaster strike.

To cure her anxiety the couple had to take action and do something that would make them less dependent on his income. Taking in a boarder was a good first step and this success led the wife to trial other things which she could do at home. It was part of her natural relief for her anxiety.
