Attitude And Massage Business Success

Hopefully it will come as no surprise to you that attitude is everything in life.  As massage therapists we need to and hopefully have an awareness of this concept.

So is your attitude set for massage business success?  Do you have a positive attitude?  If not – why not?  What is it going to take to change your attitude to one that is positive and supports your outcome for a successful massage business?

There are times when particular events happen in life where we don’t respond in such a positive way.  This is natural.  We all receive our share of painful events and moments in life.  Yet your reality will be shaped by the way you perceive the events in your life and the meaning you give them.

Lets look at an example. Perhaps negative comments are received about a massage business owners website.  They fret, get all anxious and decide to change the entire website.  All because of one negative comment.  Whereas another person may either think nothing of it, or think about the problem, address it, change it and move on.  There is no dwelling in the negativity of the problem.  They find a solution, act upon it and move on.

It doesn’t help to dwell in the negativity of problems.  Any business will face issues.  But problems can be seen as opportunities.  Opportunities for change, to try out new solutions and the chance for growth.

Of course to see it in this way, does require a particular attitude.  This attitude is the positive one.

How we respond to situations is a choice.  Many times we can’t change the event itself but we can choose our response.  Naturally this requires practice and awareness but it can be done.

Staying in the positive mindset, not a totally naive one is likely to open doors for your massage business.

Creating a successful massage business is about attitude and that is having a positive attitude.

Just Breathe

So, it’s been pretty windy here in Jacksonville, Florida and I’d assume for the rest of the chilly country. As per the norm, I went for a run to train for The River Run this next weekend and triied running over the bridges here in Mayport and was blown away (literally) by the wind. It was so windy!!! When I reached the to p of the bridge I stopped and just took a breath and felt AMAZING! There really is nothing like a deep inhalation of clean, fresh air. So, here I go, on a mission to do some sort of research on air, breathing and massage. Trying to intertwine these and find information. I did some research and found an amzing article on breathing meditaion. It’s below…enjoy! “We can connect ourselves with a basic force of nature by focusing on the essential element of air during a wind meditation. We begin by centering ourselves on our breath. We inhale the life-giving force, feeling it fill us, and then releasing it into the world to let our breath mingle with the breath of nature. If we cannot feel the wind right now, we can recall times when the wind has sent us gifts of caresses on bare skin, ruffling our clothes and playing with our hair. We can evoke sounds carried on the wind, maybe laughter or song, or perhaps just the wind’s own whispers through the trees or across the landscape of our ears. We may summon up an image of falling flowers or leaves from above, vivid colors set free with the wind’s encouragement. We may envision birds drifting on unseen currents with wings unbent, or flags and banners unfurled in the breeze. The scent of a sea breeze may come to mind, or the aromas of freshly baked treats or fragrant blooms that reach us from a distance. As these memories enliven our senses, we are feeling the vital force that surrounds and animates us. We can look to the trees to sway in time with nature’s rhythm. Just as we can be soothed by the wind, we know that nature has great power. In a rush it can block out all sound, leaving us with only the beating of our hearts. Wind can even make the inanimate dance and whirl gracefully. With a gentle sigh, the wind has carried sailors to faraway lands and balloons to great heights above. We can entrust the wind to carry our voices and best wishes out into the world, knowing it will be carried to its perfect destination. Releasing these precious offerings to its care, we remember that nature’s power is as close as our breath, and we breathe deeply once again before returning to the world around us.” Don’t you just feel more at ease and peaceful just reading that? I know I do. Now, do yourself a favor and go outside (I know it’s probably chilly), close your eyes and take one. Deep. Breath.

A Quick Guide To Massage Therapy

The use of massage therapy is a practice that is quite simply one of the oldest and simplest forms of therapy in the world. Massage therapy utilizes simple techniques that involve stroking, pressing and kneading of the various areas on the human body to relieve pain in those areas and to relax and tone the body parts. Massage can be considered as a combination of both art and science, and it gives a relaxing experience through the artistic hand strokes applied to the body. The roots of massage practice dates back to the ancient Chinese, Greek, Roman, Indian and Egyptian eras, where this therapy form was indeed very popular.

Massage does much more than create a pleasant sensation on the skin even though this is all most people care about.  Massage also works on the soft tissues such as the muscles, tendons, and ligaments in the body in order to improve muscle tone. It helps by stimulating blood circulation in the body, thereby assisting the lymphatic system and improving the elimination of waste throughout the body.

What Are The Benefits

There are some really fabulous benefits that are offered by massage therapy. It is relaxing, soothing, healing, reassuring, improves breathing and circulation, and enhances one’s overall well-being.

Some people opt to have a massage therapy treatment if they are feeling stressed or agitated, others actually require it because they have a strain or other injury. Today the benefits and uses of massage therapy are really varied and far-reaching, and massage is now considered as being one of the most crucial aspects to any physical rehabilitation program.

Aromatherapy

Another form of therapy is aromatherapy, which is actually different from massage therapy but is commonly used as a combination. Aromatherapy is a form of alternative treatment which utilizes  volatile liquid plant compounds popularly known as essential oils. The purpose of this type of therapy is to further enhance the soothing and relaxation effects upon a patient and for this reason it is used in conjunction with massage.

Massage therapy is really a great option for you, whether you are tense or sore, or simply want to find a way to relax or take it easy. A single massage therapy session allows your muscles and nerves to relax and feel loose for a few days, and sometimes this effect can even last weeks. If you have never experienced a massage before then this will be a good opportunity for you to get one and feel the relaxing benefits it gives.

You will find that not only does a great massage session affect you physically but mentally and emotionally as well because you feel enlightened and relaxed and this helps with your everyday way of thinking and behavior.
